Cell-Derived Vesicles

Cell-derived vesicles (CDVs) are a type of extracellular vesicle (EV) and represent a new class of biocompatible nanoparticles. Similar to exosomes, they can function as intercellular messengers and drug delivery vehicles.

Because exosomes are harvested from naturally secreted vesicles, their production is inherently limited. In contrast, CDVs can be mass-produced within a short period by directly extruding various human cells. Carus Bio’s proprietary CDV extrusion manufacturing technology has been patented in five major markets: the United States, Europe, China, Japan, and Korea.

Therapeutic Cargo Loading

The key to any delivery platform lies in what it can carry. BioDrone™ utilizes engineered CDVs to safely protect and transport therapeutic payloads in the form of genetic materials, such as mRNA and siRNA, as well as proteins, including antibodies and enzymes. Rather than carrying a single agent, it can load multiple complementary therapeutics simultaneously to maximize treatment efficacy.

Tissue Targeting

BioDrone™ features advanced targeting capabilities that guide therapeutics to specific tissues or cells. Through cell engineering, antibodies or ligands that bind to target receptors can be displayed on the CDV surface, enabling precise targeting like a magnet. This minimizes effects on healthy cells, enhances patient safety, and improves quality of life.
